Statement of Firm Support by The Peaceful Reunification of China Association of
New Zealand for Ms. Cheng, Li-Wun’s Visit to the Mainland
Ms. Cheng, Li-Wun, Chairperson of KMT (The Chinese Nationalist Party), has been invited to
lead a delegation to visit mainland China from April 7 to 12, 2026. During this visit, she has
reaffirmed her opposition to “Taiwan independence” and her commitment to the “1992
Consensus.” The Peaceful Reunification of China Association of New Zealand extends its warm
welcome and firm support for this visit.
Upholding the “1992 Consensus” and opposing “Taiwan independence” constitute the political
foundation for maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and for advancing the
peaceful development of cross-strait relations. At present, the situation across the Taiwan Strait
is complex and severe. Strengthening dialogue and exchanges between political parties on both
sides is in line with the shared interests of compatriots on both sides and the fundamental
interests of the Chinese nation.
The Peaceful Reunification of China Association of New Zealand, together with all overseas
Chinese in New Zealand, remains firmly committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and
territorial integrity of the motherland (ancestral homeland), and resolutely opposes any form
of “Taiwan independence” separatist activities and external interference. We sincerely wish
this visit every success and look forward to enhanced mutual trust and deeper cooperation
across the Strait, jointly safeguarding peace in the Taiwan Strait, and promoting national
reunification and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The Peaceful Reunification of China Association of New Zealand
