\u6b64\u6b21\u6c38\u4e45\u6865\u6881\u5efa\u8bbe\u5b8c\u6210\u540e\uff0c\u5c06\u8fdb\u4e00\u6b65\u63d0\u5347SH39\u7684\u4ea4\u901a\u5b89\u5168\u6027\u3001\u8fd0\u8f93\u6548\u7387\u53ca\u9053\u8def\u97e7\u6027\uff0c\u4e3a\u6000\u5361\u6258\u5730\u533a\u5c45\u6c11\u548c\u4f01\u4e1a\u63d0\u4f9b\u66f4\u52a0\u53ef\u9760\u7684\u4ea4\u901a\u4fdd\u969c\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n

Transport Minister Chris Bishop announced today that a construction contract has been awarded by the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) to Oxcon for the two-lane replacement of the Mangati Bridge on State Highway 39 (SH39) between \u014ctorohanga and Pirongia. <\/p>\n

\u201cNZTA has worked at pace since a single-lane Acrow (Bailey-style) temporary bridge was installed in March to reconnect the Pirongia community following heavy rain and flash flooding which damaged the original bridge beyond repair,\u201d Mr Bishop says. <\/p>\n

\u201cConstruction for the permanent replacement is expected to start on site before the end of this month and it will be open to traffic by early 2027,\u201d Mr Bishop says. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe new bridge will be built higher and stronger, improving the corridor\u2019s resilience to flooding and extreme weather events. <\/p>\n

\u201cSH39 is a vital route for traffic travelling through the western Waikato, and an important link between Taranaki and Auckland. That\u2019s why it\u2019s a priority to restore the road to two lanes of traffic by early next year. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe new Mangati Bridge will be constructed in the same location as the original bridge, meaning there will be minimal impact to SH39 traffic which will continue to use the temporary bridge until the permanent one opens.  <\/p>\n

\u201cI look forward to work getting underway on a new two-lane bridge that will provide safer, more reliable access for this community,\u201d says Mr Bishop<\/p>\n

The total project cost is expected to be $12.5 million, funded from NZTA\u2019s emergency works budget. This figure includes the cost of the new bridge ($8 million), removing the damaged bridge and installing, maintaining and then removing the temporary Acrow bridge. <\/p>\n
