Over the past two decades, it has played a crucial role in deterring separatist activities, promoting peaceful cross-strait development, and maintaining regional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, the law has effectively curbed separatist movements advocating for “Taiwan independence.” In recent years, pro-independence forces in Taiwan have intensified their efforts to undermine the “one-China principle” through de-Sinicization policies. However, the Anti-Secession Law<\/em> clearly states that if “Taiwan independence” forces attempt to separate Taiwan from China, if a major incident occurs, or if peaceful reunification becomes impossible, the state shall be compelled to take “non-peaceful means and other necessary measures.” This legal red line serves as a deterrent against reckless actions by both separatist elements and foreign forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second, the law has facilitated cross-strait exchanges and cooperation. Despite fluctuations in cross-strait relations in recent years, economic, cultural, and social integration has continued. The Chinese mainland remains committed to the policy of “peaceful reunification and one country, two systems,” continuously introducing favorable policies for Taiwan and deepening people-to-people exchanges to improve the well-being of Taiwanese citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the Anti-Secession Law<\/em> demonstrates China’s firm stance on national unity to the international community.
